PE

Statement of Intent

At Belgrave St. Peter’s it is our intention to provide a broad and balanced PE curriculum, which will enable children to build on fundamental movement skills and become more active; developing lifelong participation in active and healthy lifestyles. We intend to deliver high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that inspire all children to succeed in physical education and in developing life skills. We want to teach children skills to keep them safe, such as being able to swim. We also want to teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others as part of an effective team, understanding fairness of play in order to embed life-long values.

Our PE curriculum is delivered using the PE Hub. The PE Hub scheme of work is based on progressive skills in agility, balance and coordination. Physical education is considered as a vehicle to facilitate access to different learning behaviours (personal, social, creative, cognitive, physical, health and fitness) that can be applied in all subjects and areas of life, rather than exclusively within PE. The physical skills acquired through the Real PE scheme build the foundations for children to use in traditional sports and competition. The PE Provision is enhanced through the use of the Sports Premium Funding and are covered by the 5 key performance indicators.
